“This is a beautiful little cottage that is in a delightful property. There are two cottages next to this one but each cottage is on a lovely green lawn with chairs and sculptures and a babbling brook. The location was a bit outside of town (as the listing stated), so keep that in mind, when planning food and transportation (there are plenty of cabs to call though, so don’t worry about it). We were welcomed with really thoughtful little details, like a decanter of sherry and some chocolates for the two of us to share. I would wholeheartedly recommend staying here if you can make it! Just amazing! 😀 Bath itself is absolutely fascinating. It has a cute little downtown area that’s easy to walk around. The actual ruins of the Roman baths were stunningly preserved and displayed brilliantly. Roman engineering is incredible! Our trip was topped off with a dip in the Thermae spa as well. Slightly expensive but quite relaxing. Worth it for a special occasion. We didn’t do much sightseeing outside of walking around the downtown (the Abbey is also incredible) but it was a delightful visit.”
“My partner and I booked to stay in this cottage as we wanted a trip to the Bath Christmas market but were put off by the prohibitive cost of city centre hotels. All I can say is that we consider ourselves VERY lucky that we found the Fishermen’s Retreat!
“It’s one of those places that you ALMOST don’t want to tell anyone about, in case it suddenly gets really busy!
“It is truly a chocolate box cottage – part of a short terrace of houses with privately owned homes at either end.

“Hello Ann and Michael!, I just wanted to let you know that as it’s been about a year since we stayed with you and your kind hospitality -taking us into town, sitting with us at breakfast and helping us settle our train schedule, as well as your beautiful home and the yard, the steam, the walk through the woods to the local pub/diner, the kind neighbor and his birds, and the natural beauty throughout Tucking Mill has been fresh in my mind ever since – and what a great history too: I hope all is well with you both and the rentals are flowing in for you!
Warmest regards of my heart, Michael Massicott and family

“This place is a little bit of Paradise on earth. The perfect retreat for me…strolls along the lanes, a pint in the local pub reading and listening to the silence (or a crackling fire, or the brook outside or the birdcalls) looking at the stars at night..I’d love to come back and see this place in all seasons. Thanks for making my visit so perfect and memorable”
