The original wellbeing break in Bath
In many ways Bath is an obvious choice for a great British staycation, after all it has been the wellbeing destination since, well, Roman times when you think about it! With fantastic transport links across the South West to Wales and London, there is no reason to deny yourself a well-earned week of relaxation in the beautiful and historic city of Bath.
Discover some of the biggest draws to the city, with a visit to the steaming Roman Baths, before delving into the warming waters of the Thermae Bath Spa mere steps away, the only remaining natural hot spa that remains open to the public in Britain today.
Take a stroll round one the city’s bountiful parks, gardens and green spaces, take a picnic, meet with friends or take to the tennis courts in Royal Victoria Park. Alternatively you could hit the idyllic towpath along the meandering Kennet and Avon Canal, or make a splash with a try at paddle boarding, which I can vouch is great fun.
Whilst you’re roaming through the Georgian heart of the city, why not immerse yourself in the culture with a diverse collection of museums and galleries to choose from like the Holburne or the American Museum and Gardens. There are also a plethora of high-street stores and independent boutiques to browse round for those wanting to indulge in some retail therapy.
With restrictions continuing to ease, why not go all out with a lavish alfresco dinner or a round of drinks to celebrate better times to come, see our previous list for some starter inspiration of the choices on offer: Six sumptuous alfresco dining experiences.
