Taste of the Countryside: Castle Farm, Midford

One of the unique benefits to a stay at Tucking Mill, is the close proximity to one of the region’s most versatile and sumptuous eateries. Set back from the road on your way into Midford village, you’ll find a unique barn conversion overlooking the fertile valley below. But first looks can be deceiving, as you pull off to find a unique restaurant experience on the organic Castle Farm.

In June 2018, husband and wife team Pravin and Leah Nayar took over the reins running of the Castle Farm restaurant and café, where visitors can enjoy breakfast or lunch from a hearty and versatile menu, which includes everything from a full-English to a cocktail brunch, as well as Sunday roasts and luxury supper clubs. The choice of dishes change regularly to suit the season’s produce, but are always guaranteed to contain a range of options to suit all tastes and dietary requirements.

All of the lovingly prepared meals are inspired by the garden’s freshest produce, as well as Pravin’s mixed Asian and Scandinavian heritage, making for an invocative tasting experience; brought to life with the help of a small, dedicated team that are always keen to deliver excellent customer service, creating a welcoming environment for diners. To back it up, they’ve also won at the 2019 Bath Life Awards and received a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence.

The neighbouring farm shop is filled with freshly picked organic fruit and veg grown from the surrounding gardens, however, it also serves as a hub for small, local businesses to sell food and gifts also produced locally. The entrepreneurial lot at Castle Farm also host cookery classes and creative workshops, as well as offering up the barn space for private functions, such as weddings and birthdays.

Perhaps the most exclusive offering, is the weekly supper club, consisting of a six to seven course menu set around a monthly theme. Guests are welcomed to a candlelit dinner with specially crafted cocktails and fine wines waiting to off-set the evening of fine food and activity from the barn’s open kitchen. Due to growing popularity it is highly recommended that you book your place here to avoid disappointment!
